Time and protection
Tools run on a clock. Here is how the clock works and how to keep tools out of places.

The clock
Every tool has a real-time expiry set when it is given, for example 2h30m. The clock runs on the wall clock, so time passes even while the item sits in a chest or the player is offline.
- The lore shows time left and the last player who used it, using
%uses%and%lastusedby%. - The lore refreshes each time the tool is used.
- When a tool is used after its expiry, the action is cancelled, the tool is removed from the hand, and the player gets the
tool-brokemessage with a break sound. - A tool that is never used again simply stays in the inventory, expired.
Duration format
| Input | Means |
|---|---|
30m | 30 minutes |
1h | 1 hour |
1d2h30m | 1 day, 2 hours and 30 minutes |
45s | 45 seconds |
90 | A plain number is minutes, so 90 minutes |
Units are d, h, m and s and can be combined. Anything that adds up to zero is rejected as an invalid duration.
Protection
Two lists keep tools out of places. In a blocked place the tool does nothing and loses no time.
blacklist:
worlds:
- "world_blacklist1"
- "world_blacklist2"
blacklisted-areas:
- "spawn"
- Worlds. Exact world names.
- Areas. WorldGuard region names. Needs WorldGuard installed.
- The shipped world names are placeholders. Replace them with your own.
Break tools (drill, shovel, axe, hoe) skip their special effect in a blocked place, and the break itself is still handled by the server and your protection plugins. Buckets are cancelled outright. Extra blocks from the area tools are broken without a separate permission check, so cover claimed land with a blocked region.
