Arenas and ladders

From an empty server to a working queue.

On this page

You need alphapractice.admin, which operators have. The commands below are /arena ones. An enabled arena cannot be edited or deleted, so disable it first.

The lobby

Run /practice to see the practice commands, including the ones that set and teleport to the lobby. With PLAYER.JOIN-TELEPORT-LOBBY on, players arrive there when they join.

Build an arena

  1. Create it. /arena create <name>. The server has a maximum number of arenas.
  2. Open setup. /arena setup <arena> starts the setup tools.
  3. Mark the area. /arena set corner <arena> 1 and 2 set the two corners, so the plugin knows what to rebuild.
  4. Set spawns. /arena set pos <arena> 1 and 2 set the two team positions.
  5. Optional. Set the icon, the build limit and the dead zone, see the table below.
  6. Enable it. /arena enable <arena>.
CommandSets
/arena set icon <arena>The menu icon, from the item in your hand.
/arena set ffapos <arena> add|resetFFA spawn positions.
/arena set bed <arena> 1|2The beds for bed-based ladders.
/arena set portal <arena> 1|2The portals for bridge-style ladders.
/arena set portalprot <arena> <number>Portal protection radius.
/arena set partyonly <arena> true|falseLimit the arena to party matches.
/arena set buildmax <arena>The highest buildable height.
/arena set deadzone <arena>The height below which players die.
/arena set sidebuildlimit <arena>The side build limit.

There are three arena types: BASIC, BUILD and FFA. Build arenas let players place blocks, and the plugin restores them after the match.

Managing arenas

CommandDoes
/arena info <name>Shows an arena status.
/arena disable <arena>Disables it so it can be edited.
/arena delete <arena>Deletes a disabled arena.
/arena freeze <arena>Stops new matches from starting in it.
/arena stop <arena>Stops every match in it.

Ladders

The shipped ladders are ready to use. To change one, edit its file under ladders/. To control which players can play it, use /ladder, which lets staff freeze a ladder or stop its matches. Players edit their own kits through /editor.

Training arenas

/train create <arena> makes a training arena, and /train setup <arena> hands you a wand to set the corners, spawns and hologram location. /train ladder <arena> add|remove <ladder> chooses its ladders, /train copy and /train delcopy manage copies, and /train start begins a session.

Leaderboards

/hologram creates leaderboard holograms, which show the top players for global or per-ladder wins and ELO. See Placeholders for the same data on a scoreboard.
